I have driven a multi-fuel vehicle since 2003. Currently this truck has more than 150,000 miles on it. Being able to use hydrogen, methane, and ethanol has allowed me to drive all over the country without the use of gasoline. Last year I was able to drive from Utah to Washington, D.C., and back for the National Hydrogen Association’s annual meeting without using any gasoline, although I did have to purchase nineteen gallons in 2005.

Tai Robinson filling the multi-fuel H2H2 with hydrogen in Riverside, California, during a public fuel station dedication ceremony on February 1, 2006. The H2H2 can run on hydrogen, CNG, blends of the two, or ethanol while retaining its ability to use gasoline.

Primarily using CNG followed by H2 and then E85, the maintenance has been reduced on my truck, which is able to go up to 50,000 miles in between oil changes. With this cleaner-fuel vehicle I am able to use the car pool lane even when driving alone, which saves me time during the busy work week. My American Fuel Vehicle saves me money on both fuel and maintenance. The emissions are far cleaner than petroleum fuels.

Choosing cleaner fuels supports our local economy while increasing the nation’s security. Driving a multi-fuel vehicle today helps create the demand for a more clean-fuel infrastructure tomorrow.
