GEM Producing Six-Passenger Electric Vehicle

Global Electric Motorcars, LLC (GEM) recently announced its plans to produce a six-passenger electric vehicle called the e6. Engineered to meet federal safety requirements for street-legal operation as a low-speed vehicle, the e6 is the first neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) available for sale from a major automobile manufacturer (GEM is a DaimlerChrysler company).

“We created this new GEM model as a result of customer demand,” said GEM President and CEO Rick Kasper. “The GEM e6 is the perfect local transportation solution for larger families or for transporting groups of people around real estate developments, theme parks, as well as around businesses, colleges, and medical campuses.”

The NEV features front-wheel drive, regenerative braking, a top speed of twenty-five miles per hour, and a driving range of up to thirty miles. An optional special “S” package equips the e6 with a larger battery pack for an extended driving range of up to forty miles and a utility bed for carrying cargo.

“With the ‘S’ package, the GEM e6 is the perfect all-around shuttle and delivery vehicle for use on roads within resorts, airports, and military bases where ruggedness and continuous duty is an issue,” said Kasper.

The suggested retail price for the e6 is $12,495, and it is available in metallic blue, black, silver, and green as well as red, yellow, and white. More info can be found at www.gemcar.com.
