Shoreline Community College Appoints New President

The Board of Trustees of Shoreline Community College (SCC), an NAFTC member school located just north of Seattle in Washington State, recently appointed Lee D. Lambert as SCC president. The vote to approve Lambert was unanimous, and he will begin his three-year term on July 1, 2006.

SCC was recognized as a new member and the 27th National Training Center of the NAFTC in February while Lambert served as the college’s interim president, a role he assumed in October 2005. Since joining SCC in January 2005, he has also served as vice president for human resources and legal affairs and acting president. In May 2006, Lambert worked with multiple divisions to launch the Environmental Leadership Initiative, which seeks to incorporate environmental stewardship into every facet of SCC. Through this plan, each SCC department, class, student club, support service, vendor, and campus activity will focus on environmental themes that inspire creative, sustainable solutions and attitudes. As part of the NAFTC’s 2006 National AFV Day Odyssey, SCC will host the 2006 Washington State Odyssey Days alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicle event on October 13–14, 2006. This will serve as a launch for many SCC class and student club projects as the entire campus embraces this new initiative.
