NAFTC Holds Summer Business Meeting in Chicago

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) held its summer business meeting June 15–17 in Chicago, Illinois. Staff and member representatives from the NAFTC and NAFTC National Training Centers (NTCs) met tonetwork with one another, discuss future plans, receive training, and catch up with friends.

Madhuri Hosford from Shoreline Community College (SCC) expressed to attendees her school’s excitement of being an NAFTC member school, as the college recently joined the Consortium. She also announced the appointment of Lee Lambert as President of SCC and discussed his Environmental Leadership Initiative, which seeks to incorporate environmental stewardship into every facet of the college.

Nashville Auto-Diesel College Vice President of Education Doug Fox also updated the group concerning a recent visit from U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander to the school. Senator Alexander was part of a biodiesel roundtable discussion that also featured several industry and education representatives.

In addition, the business meeting featured training for attendees. Day one included the introduction of the updated Overview of Biodiesel course. Day two familiarized the members with the newest NAFTC workshop, Hybrid Safety Workshop for First Responders.

“It was a pleasure visiting with old and new friends, and I believe much was accomplished,” said NAFTC Executive Director Al Ebron. “The meeting was a great success, and I look forward to continuing to work with all our member schools in advancing the mission of the NAFTC.”
