October 12, 2006, will be the day for Americans to become better educated on the importance of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles. With the continued trend of rising gasoline prices, national concerns surrounding our dependency on foreign oil, and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Odyssey is the only nationwide event to endorse alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) as a real viable option for the future of America. Now is the time for you to get involved to help make a difference!

To date, more than thirty sites have registered to participate in this one-day event dedicated to promoting the advancements of the alternative fuel industry. We anticipate going well over the 54 sites in the 2004 Odyssey. To become a site coordinator, the only requirements are to meet the national goals and objectives and sign a letter of agreement, all of which can be found by visiting the National AFV Day Odyssey Web site (http://www.nationalafvdayodyssey.org). Our 2006 Odyssey goal is to have seventy-five participating sites, with at least one in each state, and with your involvement we can turn that number into a reality!

Hosting a site event is easy thanks to the detailed and comprehensive Coordinator's Planning Notebook. The notebook, produced by the NAFTC, provides step-by-step instructions on how to conduct an event. Furthermore, we supply all sites with media aids such as blanket press releases and radio announcements, national promotional materials such as brochures and posters, Odyssey logos and themes, sample event activities and ideas, and checklists to better enhance your overall event. Additionally, we are just a phone call away should any questions arise.

Most importantly, all sites receive national recognition. Participating sites are listed in the Executive Summary which is distributed to Congress and all over the country. Your company/organization will be also listed on the Odyssey Web site, with a page developed showcasing you and your event.
