ISBN Number: 1-933954-18-3

Why Take Forklift Training?

An estimated 1.3 million lift trucks are used in this country--along with other indoor material handling applications. Their daily use can negatively impact indoor air quality. To diminish these effects and support healthful working conditions, businesses are switching to cleaner-burning fuels such as propane and compressed natural gas.

Clearly there is a need for a pool of highly-trained technicians to service, repair, and support this equipment. Not only will such technicians service forklifts and other material handling applications, but they also will help businesses comply with clean air quality standards issued by federal agencies such as the EPA, OSHA, and others.

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University has developed a thoroughly-researched, instructionally sound, easily-applied training program in forklift and material handling applications, including components, layout, maintenance, safety, and emissions controls, supported by concise materials and hands-on experience.
