Why Take Transient Emissions Training?
Approximately 85 percent of unfavorable emissions are generated by 10 percent of the vehicles on the road. Most of these emissions occur during up-hill, down-hill, coasting, acceleration, or braking conditions; that is, during transient conditions.
As concern for the environment has grown, so has the recognition that emissions can be reduced by using alternatives to conventional (petroleum-based) fuels. Therefore, today's alternative fuels technician must have a thorough knowledge of emission standards and the federal test procedures, as well as the ability to diagnose and repair emission-related problems.
The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University has developed a thoroughly-researched, instructionally sound, easily-applied training program in Transient Emissions Testing to give you the skills and knowledge that will guide you through the maze of terms and tests needed to provide efficient and accurate service in this area.
What You Will Learn
