NAFTC Participates in Clean Cities' Energy Independence Days in Washington D.C.

In early March, the NAFTC participated in the Clean Cities Coordinator's Energy Independence Days in Washington. Clean Cities coordinators come to Washington for the great opportunities to network with industry peers and hold meetings with members of Congress. Energy Independence Days have always provided a great framework in which to make Congress and other governmental officials more aware of cleaner domestic fuels and energy saving technologies and vehicles.

The event consisted of several presentations and panel discussions all focused on the Clean Cities' mission to reduce America's petroleum dependence. NAFTC Assistant Director - Communications Judy Moore and Odyssey Event Manger Julie Whiteman presented information on the many resources available to coordinators and stakeholders from the NAFTC and discussed future plans and events for Odyssey.

Other presentations and discussions included a CNG panel discussion that featured dialogue on legislative and incentive issues related to natural gas infrastructure and vehicles. Bill Petty from Environmental Defense discussed the efforts of ED to educate large fleets on energy-saving vehicles and technologies. Plug-In Partners presented the latest developments in plug-in hybrid technology and related policy initiatives. U.S. Senator Hatch, a great supporter of Clean Cities, made an appearance at the event as well.

The NAFTC also sponsored the Monday night Coordinator's Dinner at the Tortilla Coast restaurant, which provided a great networking opportunity for coordinators and other attendees.

"Sponsoring the Coordinator's Dinner was a great way to thank the Clean Cities coalitions and coordinators who participated in Odyssey events," said Julie Whiteman. "We hope to strengthen and expand these working relationships as Odyssey continues to grow."
