From the Office of the Executive Director

Dear Friends:

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful days of summer! To kick the season off, the NAFTC held its summer business meeting in Gardiner, Montana, located near Yellowstone National Park. The need for the adoption and use of alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles seemed even more urgent in such a naturally tranquil and majestic setting!

NAFTC staff and members held a joint meeting with the National Park Service (NPS) and shared ideas on alternative fuel vehicles, sustainability and what each organization was doing to help. The NPS provided an in-depth presentation and tour of their alternative fuel vehicle operations exposing the NAFTC to Yellowstone's own environmental initiatives. Known as "The Greening of Yellowstone," the national park has a wide variety of green strategies, including the use of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles as tour buses, garbage trucks, and a variety of heavy equipment and administrative vehicles and also the availability of alternative fuels for consumer purchase. To learn more about the NAFTC's business meeting, please read the eNews article "NAFTC Holds Joint Meeting with Yellowstone National Park Service on Environmental Practices." For more information about Yellowstone's initiatives, see the article "The Greening of Yellowstone."

The NAFTC continued to be busy in June when it attended the Clean Cities Joint Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Consortium showcased its curricula, courses, and workshops to those in attendance. Details also were given surrounding an important announcement—the fourth installment of National Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey will be held October 3, 2008!

For more details on Odyssey, please visit its official Web site, www.nationalafvdayodyssey.org, or contact us if we can be of assistance to you in any way.

Sincerely,

Al Ebron
NAFTC Executive Director
