Madison Has Outstanding Auto Skills Showing

Madison Area Technical College students recently competed in the Automotive Service Technology and Job Interview categories at the State Skills USA Competition. The Automotive Service Technology competition allows contestants to demonstrate their abilities to perform jobs and skills based on the task list outlined by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Contestants were judged on technical competency, accuracy, quality, safety, and ability to follow directions at thirteen workstations consisting of on-vehicle, simulations, bench and component testing, and a written test.

Madison had six competitors in the Automotive Service Technology contest with three students placing in the top three positions. Those student were:

1st Place: Kyle Reimann
2nd Place: Chris Steffes
3rd Place: Jacob Kinnett

The Job Interview contest challenges contestants in the categories of employment applications, preliminary interviews, and in-depth interviews. Contestants are judged based on their understanding of employment procedures when applying for positions in their chosen occupational field. Johnna Lush, a Madison Area Technical College student, took first place in the Job Interview competition!

The College's Automotive Club was presented with the Outstanding Student Group-Community Service award at the club award banquet following the competition.
