Industry Headlines Consortium Updates |
|
From the Office of the Executive Director Dear Friends: Winter is over and spring has sprung! Temperatures are rising across the nation, but unfortunately, gas prices are forecasted to increase as well. The upcoming months are a time for vacations and travel, and if you are hitting the road, you may feel it soon in your wallet. Although the price of gasoline continues to be a problem, many auto manufacturers are working toward developing alternative solutions, and their efforts are being recognized. Companies such as General Motors, Honda, Toyota, and Ford have recently earned awards for their efforts. You can learn more about this in the eNews story, "Auto Manufacturers Receive Green Awards." As 2007 continues to roll swiftly by, the NAFTC has been busy spreading its message of alternative solutions to gasoline-powered vehicles. The Consortium recently exhibited at the ATMC and AFVI conferences and conducted and participated in many other training and awareness activities such as the Earth Day event "Empowering Kids! WVU Earth Day!" geared toward schoolchildren. Finally, the Consortium would like to congratulate Terry Wolfe, who was awarded the Star of Education Award by the National Association of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortium. Terry is the Automotive Department Coordinator at the Community College of Baltimore County, an NAFTC National Training Center. I hope you find time to get outside and enjoy springtime. Meanwhile, please let us know if we can be of service to you in any way. Sincerely, Al Ebron
