NAFTC Rolls Out New Membership Structure

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) has revamped its membership structure and is forging new partnerships to provide education and outreach for alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles and advanced technology vehicles. The revised structure encourages new categories of organizations to take advantage of the services, products and benefits of the NAFTC, along with continuing to provide trainers of automotive technicians with the best curricula and training available to be the leading edge of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicle education.

New Member Testimonial:

When Yuba College started thinking about implementing alternative fuel courses into the automotive program, we started checking around and doing research to find the best option. We looked around for two years at different groups that we thought could provide the services we needed. Ed Davis, Dean of Business, Social Science & Humanities, Career Technical Education, at Yuba, met Al Ebron, NAFTC Executive Director, at a conference in Anaheim and the connection was made. What the NAFTC offers plugged right into the Yuba program. Joining the NAFTC has been great because Yuba has been able to do things that we normally could not do. The curricula, training, and other services the NAFTC provides, especially the first responder program, were exactly what was needed to complement and expand the Yuba College programs. Becoming an NAFTC National Training Center has moved Yuba into a new and exciting direction.

The NAFTC has retained the National Training Center (NTC) identification for post-secondary institutions that are interested in providing education, training and outreach for alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) and advanced technology vehicles. New members enjoy the benefits that include access to the award-winning curricula of the NAFTC and the train-the-trainer courses, instructor updates and informative professional development activities, along with networking opportunities, marketing opportunities and access to industry personnel and organizations affiliated with the NAFTC. Al Ebron, Executive Director – NAFTC, has expressed his desire to have at least two National Training Centers in every state and territory of the United States.

The NAFTC also continues Associate Training Center membership for secondary education schools, centers and organizations that want to provide America's future decision makers with the latest information on how to decrease our dependence on foreign petroleum and improve our air quality and provide quality training for future automotive technicians. Associate Training Center benefits include access to the curricula and training opportunities of the NAFTC.

In addition, the NAFTC has added three new membership categories for Non-Profit Organizations and Government Agencies, Corporate, and Small Businesses. These membership categories provide the opportunity for non-educational organizations that are concerned about providing education and outreach activities to further AFVs and advanced technology vehicles, to be a member of the only nationwide training organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and expanding the use of these vehicles in an effort to improve air quality and decrease U.S. dependence on foreign oil. These organizations receive the benefit of having input into the curricula and training offered by the NAFTC for those secondary and post-secondary education and training organizations that are leading the education of America's future technicians and decision-makers. They also support the outreach and awareness activities of the NAFTC, such as National AFV Day Odyssey. Probably the most important benefit is the marketing and networking opportunities with all of the members and partners of the NAFTC, which provides them the perfect opportunity for focus group and brainstorming sessions with this group of key industry professionals.

The NAFTC would like to recognize the following new members:
