NAFTC Trains and Exhibits at 65th Annual State School Transportation Conference West Virginia's 65th Annual State School Transportation Conference was held in July at the scenic Lakeview Scanticon Conference Center in Cheat Lake, West Virginia. The conference allows transportation directors, drivers, maintenance supervisors, mechanics, administrators, and others from the State of West Virginia to come together and strengthen their professional and technical skills in order to maintain West Virginia's exceptional record of providing safe, dependable school transportation for our State's young scholars.
As part of the event, conference attendees came to the NAFTC headquarters training lab to take part in two training sessions conducted by National Instructor Scott Martin. The Advantages of Biodiesel – A Technician's View training course provided attendees with a condensed version of the NAFTC's Overview of Biodiesel course. Scott Martin also performed a Smoke Opacity Test, demonstrating the cleaner combustion of biodiesel as compared to conventional petrol diesel fuel.
Judy Moore, Assistant Director of Communications, and Randall Levelle, Assistant Director of Programs, exhibited NAFTC-developed curricula at the Lakeview Scanticon Conference Center with a special concentration on biodiesel-related information. The Office of School Transportation and West Virginia Association of Pupil Transportation host the annual conference which lasts several days. The conference includes some fun and unique activities such as a barbeque, annual golf tournament, and the Jim Bailey Scholarship Auction that raises money to help students continue their education. |
