UNOH Utilizes NAFTC Curricula for High School Instructors Update Training

The National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) recently conducted its Clean Air and Energy Independence: An Overview of Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technology Vehicles training at University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH). Every August UNOH hosts an update training seminar for high school automotive technology instructors from around the country. This three-day event provides an environment for automotive industry companies to discuss and explain the latest automotive technologies to a multitude of instructors.

The NAFTC participated in the longstanding tradition held at UNOH by teaching a condensed version of its Clean Air and Energy Independence: An Overview of Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technology Vehicles training course. The full course was developed to give instructors a basic understanding of technology in the growing field of alternative fuels. It provides the instructor with the necessary information to effectively teach an introductory-level course on alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles to high school students who wish to attend college and pursue a career in the automotive industry.

The automotive industry is quickly moving in a positive direction by developing many different types of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles. More of today's automotive colleges are teaching advanced-level courses surrounding these vehicles to keep up with the growing demand. The Overview course developed by the NAFTC will ensure that high school instructors receive the basics in alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles by providing training material that is flexible and adaptable to any school system.
